Prayer Shawl Ministry

A BIG THANK YOU to 'Terri Bushko for her generous donation of prayer shawls that she made.  We really appreciate her hard work on these beautiful shawls.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is in need of knitters to help knit prayer shawls.  Please contact us if you can help in this wonderful mission.

Dell Roberts is the latest recipient of our Prayer Shawl Ministry, which symbolizes God’s love and healing.  Isabel King and Merrill Colegrove delivered the prayer shawl, which had been knit by Isabel's sister in Australia. It will remind Dell of our continued prayers and blessings.

Mission Projects - Small Church with a Big Heart

We define Missions as “what we do for other people in Christ's name”.  Historically, our church's mission projects have included donations to the Harry Chapin Food Bank, school supplies for local children, help for neighbors in need of food or services, a diaper drive, our Prayer Shawl Ministry, and more.

Our most recent mission project was done in cooperation with First Congregational Church of Cape Coral, Thomas Edison Congregational Church, located in Fort Myers, and First Congregational of Naples.   We provided the funds needed for landscaping for a new youth camp in the Philippines.   Pastor Symphony  John, a Missionary in the Philippines, brought this need to our attention while he was visiting in Florida.  Below is a "thank you" video from the youth and some photos of the landscape.

"40 Days to Generousity"

Our Missions Ministry chose our church as the beneficiary of the “40 Days of Generosity” campaign, challenging our church members to 40 days of giving back, doing good and living generously. In addition to daily Bible readings, the ministry distributed a list of 40 easy ways to live as a Christian that can easily be incorporated to any lifestyle.  We spent 40 days with daily Biblical readings to remind us that the reason why we are doing for others is to become conformed into the image of Christ.  Every day as we performed services for others, even as simple as opening a door for someone, we remembered that we were doing it in Christ's name.

Blankets For Bonita

Even Southwest Florida has to deal with cold weather during the winter. With the knowledge that many people in our community do not have a heating system in the homes, Lighthouse Fellowship Congregational Church has collected hundreds of blankets for needy families in our community over the past several years.  Our church will once again collect blankets to be donated to local Christian Ministries for distribution to those in need this upcoming Winter.

Samaritan's Purse

According to Samaritans Purse, families engaged in subsistence farming often live in chronic poverty and malnutrition, and lack the skills to get the most out of their small patches of land. Others have seen their livelihoods wiped out by drought, disaster, or war. Thousands of impoverished farmers, herders, and fishermen have received the resources and training they need to feed their families and even obtain a modest income that can be used for education, medical care, or other needs.  In 2015, LFCC donated money to Samaritan’s Purse to buy livestock, chickens and goats to bless impoverished families with an ongoing source of nutrition and supplemental income in the name of Jesus Christ.
